Afro-Asian Insurance & Reinsurance Brokers (India) Private Limited (AAIRB) was licensed as a Composite Broker by the Insurance & Regulatory Development Authority (IRDA) of India on 18th May, 2004. The company was set up and promoted by AAIS UK with a view to cater to the insurance needs of corporates as well as individuals in India, the Middle East and Far East markets.
AAIRB is part of the Afro Asian group which has been in operation for over 20 years with the head office in UK and network offices in Asia and Africa, namely Kenya, Nigeria, Ghana and Tanzania. AAIS UK is an accredited Lloyds broker with vast experience in both insurance and reinsurance and AAIRB has the advantage of being able to draw on this experience whenever required. AAIS UK offers AAIRB access to this highly capitalised market.

Meet Our Team
With a BA (Hons.) degree in Business Studies from the University of Westminster, Udai is a Fellow of The Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (UK). He is also an Associate Member of the Chartered Insurance Institute and a Chartered Insurance Broker in the UK. He has extensive experience of International Banking,Insurance, Public Relations/Advertising and Management Practice having worked in all these sectors in various capacities. He was Finance Director of Sallingbury Casey Ltd., a respected firm of Parliamentary and Public Affairs Consultants in Westminster, before taking over as the Managing Director of “Afro- Asian” in 1991.
A Commerce Graduate from University of Mumbai and Associate of III, Jay also holds Diploma from Chartered Insurance Institute UK. Jay has experience of 19 years in the insurance industry including ten years as a Lloyd's Broker in both Treaty & Facultative Reinsurance. He has dealt with the placement of various classes of insurances which include Property & Casualty, Energy, Aviation, Political Risks, Terrorism, Event Cancellation etc.
Avinash Bagul
Director
With over 33 years of reinsurance underwriting experience of both domestic & overseas markets, Avinash has worked at Malaysian Re (Dubai) office where he was Vice President – Senior Underwriter responsible for the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) Region.
His prior experience at GIC Re (20 years) includes underwriting Treaty and Facultative Business from Indian Domestic companies as well as Foreign Inward Business from advanced European Markets and the Caribbean region.
Rajesh R. Kapasi
CFO & Director
A Commerce and Law Graduate, Rajesh brings to the company a wealth of practical business experience and excellent knowledge of Accountancy and law. Having been active in the family business of trading in casein and other dairy products for over 25 years, he has developed a vast network of contacts in India and abroad
Vinita Lotlikar
Director
Vinita Lotlikar has over 32 years of insurance market experience, both in Kenya and the U.K. She has been in senior positions in various insurance companies in Kenya as an insurance practitioner and as a buyer of reinsurance for her employer.
Vinita has been a director of Afro-Asian Insurance Services Ltd. (Lloyd’s Brokers) since 2009 and has been an integral part of the growth of the Group within Africa.
She currently is a director of the London School of Insurance (UK) Ltd along with various “Afro-Asian” Group companies in Ghana, Zimbabwe, and India.
Philip K. Philip
Regional Development Director
Philip K. Philip is a C-suite executive with over 39 years of experience in the Middle East spanning Oman, UAE & Qatar, and was CEO of Muscat Insurance Company, Oman in his last assignment.
He carries a great deal of experience in reinsurance both treaty and facultative especially energy programs and has great relationships with reinsurers world-wide.
Harsh Thakker
Vice President, Reinsurance Broking
With prior experience in claims and loss adjusting, he has been handling our reinsurance treaties for over 7 years and is also the head of facultative risks. He has a business degree from New York, and his Associate from the Insurance Institute of India along with being a licensed broker from the National Insurance Institute.
Maitreyee Mehta

Along with a degree in psychology she has a zeal for exploring and learning more in the field of insurance & reinsurance. She is a Fellow from the Insurance Institute of India along with being a licensed broker from the National Insurance Institute.
